Yes! Those were the golden days of school....
....when
getting up at six in the morning was a normal way to start the day, and
now ufff.....it is an agenda of the week (every Monday morning )
...when milk was dreaded in and was poured in my little sis’ glass if she was out of sight
...when
I hated wearing uniform everyday as I am a person who gets bored of
things quickly and now choosing clothes every morning seems to be a big
pain!
...when birthday meant distributing toffees that never went above 1 Rs per head. But Rs 100 per head today is not enough
...when exams also meant a fixed hour of kho-kho in the evening
...when holiday meant late night movie the day before and pakoras in the breakfast
...when
I never ironed my uniform and only mom’s bashings would make me do
that. And to top this, my little sis would still not do it for herself
and inturn complain to mom for me not doing it for her
...when
I and sis never prepared my bag at night, and mom doing it for us early
morning. And this was generally coupled with her song of cursing me for
putting all the crap in my bag. Small little chits of ‘Raja-wajir-chor-sipahi’ and ‘solah parchi’ and God knows wat all crap from remains of the sharpened pencil to wrappers of toffees… yukk !!
...when
foul language made me get staring faces, each one giving “oh my gawdâ€
look and today it’s a taboo of the sudda group as we call it our group
...when
I used to be embarassed when dad dropped me off to school on his
scooter and I used to crib for him driving so slow. I irritatingly
compared him to the pedestrians...and now I feel bad and wonder how
hurt he must have been by my silly acts…… but he never complained.
Sorry Dad
...when winter vacation, summer vacation something very obvious
...When it was considered “hep†to wear jeans
...when I used to buy ‘imli’ and ‘masalamooli’ from a roadside seller after school
...when I used to leave home with socks pulled up, and were fashionably pulled down once I reached school
...when the best way to spend vacations was to visit 'Naani'sPlace'
...when I hated the fact that I could never be Number 1, and always got the same remark in my report cards “ Can do betterâ€
...when answering a question in class was a considered to be the achievement of the day
...when holiday homework was completed on the last day of the vacations
...when I was caught reading ‘NancyDrew’ while pretending to read a lesson from course book ;)
...when movies were meant only to be watched on TV. The first movie that dad took us for was ‘Hum Aapke Hain Kaun!’, that too when he got reviews of it being a clean movie !!
...when there used to be a ban on watching cable TV as there was risk of our getting spoiled
...when make up meant ‘wedding of really close relative’ and deodrant was a luxury item
...when having a ‘Barbie doll’ was something to make friends jealous
...when having a two wheeler to ride to tuition classes was a great possession
...when bunking the class was a happening thing to do
...when mamta kulkarni was the hottest bebe (yukk!!!!!!!!!!)
...when
kissing scenes in movies which were depicted through two flowers coming
together, or the two beaks of birds, were enough to embarass us
...when talking to a guy on phone was kept hush hush
...when any guy friend was equated to BF by friends
...when I longed to be teachers pet and we considered offering her our tiffin could earn us few points
